The preponderant place of Calvinism in the French Reformation was not assured at its beginnings. Analysis of the situation in Lyon before 1560 shows the existence of numerous currents, sometimes parallel, sometimes even opposed. This research first of all concerns publishers, printers, booksellers and a certain number of humanist authors. A first split appears between the cultivated booksellers and the typesetters, the latter reacting more emotionally than rationally. Another split appears between the protestant community closely linked to Geneva since 1550 and evangelicals attracted by new ideas without for all that adopting all Calvinist doctrines
